Agricultural land and property - Eastern

Land prices increased by 48% on year ago levels, compared to 36% in the previous half.

Demand continued to increase very rapidly in the nonresidential sector, but at a slightly slower pace than in the previous half. In the residential sector, the slowdown in the pace of demand was far more pronounced, but it still remains in line with the survey’s long run average. Land availability picked up in both the residential and non residential sectors, although the increase was far more pronounced in the latter case.

Individual farmer’s share and institutional investors’ share of purchases jumped respectively from 55% to 60% and from 4% to 8%. This was largely offset by a fall in the share of non-farmers purchases from 26% to 18%.
